Dr. Stephens published an article in the book "What to Expect and How to Respond: Distress and Success in Academia".

Dr. Cristina Stephens co-authored an article with Elena Gheorghiu, graduate student in KSU's International Conflict Management Program, titled “Hanging by a Thread: International Students Reaching for the American Dream.” The article is featured in the book "What to Expect and How to Respond: Distress and Success in Academia", Eds Earl Wright II and Thomas C. Calhoun; Rowman and Littlefield, September 2016.

The paper situates an international student’s personal narrative within financial, legal, institutional, cultural and psycho-social considerations with the aim of highlighting the unique set of challenges and vulnerabilities that assistantship-dependent international students can face in universities across the United States.
