Brian Starks, PhD., is Associate Professor of Sociology at Kennesaw State University. Dr. Starks’ research explores the impact of religion on parental values, politics, generosity, and more, with a special focus on Catholic identity. In 2013, he conducted a national survey of Catholic Diocesan Directors of Religious Education and is currently working on "The American Parish Project" a collaborative effort to revitalize parish studies. He has published in Social Forces, Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, Sociology of Religion, and other top peer-reviewed journals. He previously directed the Catholic Social and Pastoral Research Initiative at the University of Notre Dame and before that was Assistant Professor of Sociology at Florida State University.
