Profile

Dr. McCafferty is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice and has been at KSU since Fall 2012.  He earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice in 2013 from the University of Cincinnati; MS in Criminal Justice in 2007 from the University of Cincinnati; and BA in Criminal Justice in 2003 from Lycoming College.  Before entering graduate school, Dr. McCafferty worked as a probation officer at the York County (Pa.) Juvenile Probation Department where he supervised a caseload of delinquent youth in the community.  Dr. McCafferty has taught a variety of courses at KSU including Foundations of Criminal Justice, Corrections, Courts, Technology and Criminal Justice, Research Methods, and Senior Seminar.  His research interests include community corrections, risk assessment, and the juvenile justice system.  Dr. McCafferty has research published in Criminal Justice Policy Review, Journal of Offender Rehabilitation, Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice, and other peer-reviewed journals.
