Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice

Programs: M.S. in Criminal Justice

The new MSCJ is an ideal program for traditional students and professionals in the field of criminal justice who aspire to further their education beyond the baccalaureate degree. The program includes face-to-face, hybrid, and online course instructional formats. The program also has a unique “Global/International Perspectives in Criminal Justice” focus. The latter includes both an ‘International Criminal Justice Experience’ study abroad opportunity and a comparative criminal justice systems course. The program provides a focused and interactive educational experience designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills in criminal justice administration, including critical thinking and communication, as well as in relevant technologies and information sources. The program also provides students an opportunity to understanding and addressing the significance of cultural diversity within the criminal justice context. These attributes are essential for success in contemporary criminal justice agencies and in relevant private sector organizations both in Georgia and elsewhere. Students will also be prepared for further graduate study should they choose to pursue this option.
