In Fall 2011, Dr. Scherer joined the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice as an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. She received her Ph.D. in Criminal Justice in 2011 from the University of Cincinnati with concentrations in criminology and crime prevention.
Dr. Scherer teaches a wide-range of courses including Foundations of Criminal Justice (CRJU 1101), Research Methods in CJ (CRJU 3301), Profile of the Serial Offender (CRJU 3365), Criminology (SOCI 4432), Victimology (CRJU 4430), and Criminal Justice Policy and Analysis (CRJU 7708). Dr. Scherer’s primary research interests include victimology theory and the nature and extent of victimization among college students. She has peer-reviewed publications that have appeared in WORK: A Journal of Prevention, Assessment & Rehabilitation, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, and Women and Criminal Justice. She also serves as the Academic Program Assessment Coordinator for the Criminal Justice Program (B.S.).
